Small businesses to get £7bn package

With the tax budget released today, a piece of the large amount has been put in place for small companies with the economical turmoil the companies will get loans and a deferring in tax rises. Small and medium sized companies make up around 60% of the private sector work force and with the economy the way it is, Alistair Darling has put in plans to help, from a small company up to a medium sized company. With many of the companies being the back bone of Britain many of them have suffered emencely and need a lot of help. The chancellor sets in place plans of easing tax pressure and increasing cash flow, Because of the plan to reduce VAT. This will also have a good and well welcomed tax cut for small companies as they will save money on supplies need in there business. Companies now can spread out the tax payments needed with large time scales in which to do so, such as VAT and national insurance. part of the deal would involve the chancellor paying £4 billion of the package to a large over seas bank to pass on to the smaller banks to increase borrowing. This will make lending more excess able, so that companies can borrow anything from £1,000 to £1 million, depending on the size and need of the company.

The package works out at £1bn on tax relief,  £2bn on guaranteed loans and the rest of the package would be from European money. The size of this package shows that small companies in this country are true need of financial help.

Financial Secretary to the Treasury Stephen Timms was said to say, in these financial economical time it must be paramount that government must do everything in it’s powers to help smaller firms, and that if a company needed more time to pay there tax bill, they would get a decision from HMRC immediately. With actually speaking to the HMRC companies can set up plans and time tables to make suitable payments and to not receive any fines or penalties.
