Gordon Brown must cut fuel taxation!

People of the UK have been paying over the odds for fuel for years, when going to the pumps and fill up with unleaded petrol, you stand to pay the government 70% tax on top of that the fuel actually cost to make. With this being a developed country we pay a lot more then they do in Eastern Europe. With the UK being one the highest cost of fuel in the whole of Europe.

It’s all well and good for Gordon Brown to warn energy companies to lower their rates, as the cost of raw material is at all time lows, and energy companies have yet to pass the saving on to the consumer. Maybe he should take a leaf out of his own book and do the same, and pass on the savings on fuel. Even though the cost of fuel has gone down, people are still being charge a ridiculous amount.

Opec one of the largest suppliers in the world who cater for around 2 thirds of the world’s fuel consumption. With the supply of fuel not as much in demand as before, Opec have decided to cut the amount of fuel distributed around the world, and the cost of fuel is set to sore even more. Gorden Brown is actually complaining about the price of souring oils, even though he has this extremely high rate of taxation on fuel.

Gordon Brown yesterday was trying to put pressure on Mr Abdullah al-Badri  the owner of Opec, to reduce the price of fuel and to make the cost more stable through the financial times, Mr Abdullah al-Badri Replied to PM Brown by saying ‘I think Mr Brown is very confused, because if he is looking for the interests of his people he should look at the taxes,’  ‘He is getting the highest taxes in Europe, maybe the world. So Mr Brown, instead of looking at Opec, should look at his policies and try to reduce taxes.’ These statements were made on BBC radio 4 earlier today.
