Barclays top directors in job plea
Top directors of Barclays bank this week issued a statement entitled “Back us or sack us” In a plea to not damage relations with shareholder this week, top chief executive John Varley proposed no bonuses shall be taken this year with other top exec Bob Diamond, Who last year mounted up 20 million pounds in wages and bonuses.The board led by Mr Varley has backed talks to put his own board up for reelection in next Aprils annual meeting. With such measures, signs show likely that Mr Varley will have full support and backing for continuing running of the bank.
Latest interest of investment are shown from companies Abu Dhabi and Qatari investors. Who are on there way to be making a hefty some of around 5.8 billion pounds for a 31 per cent claim in the company. These steps seemed to be taken by Barcleys to aviod government investment and control. Which could see top execs still collecting large bonuses from next year.
